First Reading: ACTS 28:16-20, 30-31

读经一（保禄留居罗马，宣讲天主的国。）

When he entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him. Three days later he called together the leaders of the Jews.

进了罗马之后，保禄获准与看守他的士兵独居一处。过了三天，保禄便召集犹太人的首领；

 

When they had gathered he said to them, "My brothers, although I had done nothing against our people or our ancestral customs, I was handed over to the Romans as a prisoner from Jerusalem.

待他们来齐了，就向他们说：“诸位仁人弟兄！论到我，我虽没有行什么反对民族或祖先规例的事，却被锁押了，从耶路撒冷被交到罗马人手里。

 

After trying my case the Romans wanted to release me, because they found nothing against me deserving the death penalty.

他们审问了我，在我身上没有找到该死的罪案，就想释放我；

 

But when the Jews objected, I was obliged to appeal to Caesar, even though I had no accusation to make against my own nation.

但犹太人反对，我不得已，只好向凯撒上诉，并不是我有什么事要控告我的人民。

 

This is the reason, then, I have requested to see you and to speak with you, for it is on account of the hope of Israel that I wear these chains."

为这个缘故，我才请你们来见面谈话。我原是为了以色列所希望的事才带上了这条锁链。”

 

He remained for two full years in his lodgings. He received all who came to him, and with complete assurance and without hindrance he proclaimed the Kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.

保禄在自己租赁的房子里住了整整两年；凡来见他的，他都接待。他宣讲天主的国，教授主耶稣基督的事，都非常自由，没有人禁止。

【答】：上主！心诚的人必得见你的仪容。

 

The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD's throne is in heaven. His eyes behold, his searching glance is on mankind.

领：上主住在自己的圣殿，上主的宝座设立于天：他的眼睛垂视下地，他的目光细察人子。

 

R. The just will gaze on your face, O Lord.

【答】：上主！心诚的人必得见你的仪容。

 

The LORD searches the just and the wicked; the lover of violence he hates. For the LORD is just, he loves just deeds; the upright shall see his face.

领：上主审察着义人与恶人，全心痛恨那爱蛮横的人；上主是正义的，他酷爱公正，心诚的人必得见他的仪容。

 

R. The just will gaze on your face, O Lord.

【答】：上主！心诚的人必得见你的仪容。

 

Gospel JN 21:20-25

福音（写下这些事的，就是这个门徒，我们知道：他的作证是真实的。）

Peter turned and saw the disciple following whom Jesus loved, the one who had also reclined upon his chest during the supper and had said, "Master, who is the one who will betray you?"

那时，伯多禄转过身来，看见耶稣所爱的那个门徒跟着，即是在晚餐时靠耶稣胸膛前问“主！是谁出卖你？”的那个门徒。

 

When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about him?" Jesus said to him, "What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours? You follow me."

伯多禄一看见他，就对耶稣说：“主！他怎样？”耶稣向他说：“如果要他存留直到我来，与你何干？你只管跟随我。”

 

So the word spread among the brothers that that disciple would not die. But Jesus had not told him that he would not die, just "What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern is it of yours?"

于是在兄弟们中间传出这话说：“那门徒不死。”其实耶稣并没有说：他不死，而只说：“我如果要他存留直到我来，与你何干？”

 

It is this disciple who testifies to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true.

为这些事作证，并且记了这些事的，就是这个门徒。我们知道他的作证是真实的。

 

There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.

但耶稣还行了别的许多事迹，若要一一写出，那末要写的书，我想世界也容纳不下。
