恭读圣保禄宗徒致得撒洛尼人前书 3:7-13

 

We have been reassured about you, brothers and sisters, in our every distress and affliction, through your faith. For we now live, if you stand firm in the Lord.

弟兄们：我们在一切磨难困苦中，因了你们的信德，由你们获得了安慰。因为若是你们在主内站立稳定，我们现在就能活下去。

 

What thanksgiving, then, can we render to God for you, for all the joy we feel on your account before our God?

我们为了你们的原故，在我们的天主前甚为喜乐：对这一切喜乐，我们能怎样感谢，好为你们称谢天主呢？

 

Night and day we pray beyond measure to see you in person and to remedy the deficiencies of your faith.

我们惟有黑夜白日恳切祈求，为能见到你们的面，为能弥补你们信德的缺陷。

 

Now may God himself, our Father, and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you, and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all,

但愿天主我们的父和我们的主耶稣，铺平我们去你们那里的道路。愿主使你们彼此间的爱情，和对众人的爱情增长满溢，

 

just as we have for you, so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. Amen.

就像我们对你们所有的爱情，好坚固你们的心，使你们在我们的主耶稣同他的众圣者来临时，于天主我们的父前，在圣德上无可指摘。

You turn man back to dust, saying, “Return, O children of men.” For a thousand years in your sight are as yesterday, now that it is past, or as a watch of the night.

领：你命世人仍归灰尘，说：归来，亚当的子孙！因为千年在你的跟前，好像是刚过去的昨天，好像夜里的一更时间。

 

R.  Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for joy!

【答】：上主，求你使我们清晨即饱享你的慈爱，让我们能欢欣鼓舞，天天愉快！

 

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart. Return, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!

领：求你教导我们详数年岁，使我们达到内心的智慧。上主，求你归来，尚待何时？求你快来怜恤你的仆役！

Fill us at daybreak with your kindness, that we may shout for joy and gladness all our days. And may the gracious care of the LORD our God be ours; prosper the work of our hands for us! Prosper the work of our hands!

领：求你使我们清晨即饱享你的慈爱，让我们能欢欣鼓舞，天天愉快！愿上主我们的天主给我们广施仁慈，求你促使我们的工作顺利成功。

Gospel : Mt 24:42-51

福音（你们应该准备好。）

恭读圣玛窦福音 24:42-51

 

Jesus said to his disciples: "Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.

那时候：耶稣对门徒说：“你们要醒寤，因为你们不知道：在那一天你们的主人要来。

 

Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,

这一点你们要明白：如果家主知道盗贼几更天要来，

 

he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.

他必要醒寤，不让自己的房屋被挖穿。为此：你们应该准备，因为在你们料想不到的时辰，人子就来了。

 

Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time?

究竟谁是那忠信聪明的仆人，主人派他管理自己的家仆，按时配给他们食粮呢？

 

Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.

主人来时，看见他如此行事，那仆人才是有福的。我实在告诉你们：主人必要委派他管理自己的一切财产。

 

But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards,

如果那恶仆心里说：我主人必要延迟，于是开始拷打自己的同伴，甚或同醉汉一起吃喝。

 

the servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."

正在他不期待的日子，和想不到的时刻，那仆人的主人要来到：铲除他，使他与假善人遭受同样的命运；在那里要有哀号和切齿。”
