First Reading: IS 11:1-10

读经一（他将以正义维护弱小。）

恭读依撒意亚先知书　11:1-10

 

On that day, a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.

那一天，由叶瑟的树干将生出一个嫩枝；由它的树根将发出一个幼芽。

 

The spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD,

上主的神，智慧和聪敏的神，超见和刚毅的神，明达和敬畏上主的神，将住在他内。

 

and his delight shall be the fear of the LORD.

他将以敬畏上主为快慰。

 

Not by appearance shall he judge, nor by hearsay shall he decide, but he shall judge the poor with justice, and decide aright for the land's afflicted.

他必不照他眼见的，施行审讯，也不按他耳闻的，执行判断。他将以正义，审讯微贱者，以公理，判断世上的谦卑者，

 

He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

以他口中的棍杖，打击暴戾者，以他唇边的气息，诛杀邪恶者。

 

Justice shall be the band around his waist, and faithfulness a belt upon his hips.

正义将是他腰间的束带，忠诚将是他胁下的佩带。

 

Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; the calf and the young lion shall browse together, with a little child to guide them.

豺狼将与羔羊共处；虎豹将与小山羊同宿。牛犊和幼狮一同饲养；一个幼童即可带领牠们。

 

The cow and the bear shall be neighbors, together their young shall rest; the lion shall eat hay like the ox.

母牛和母熊将一起牧放；牠们的幼雏将一同伏卧。狮子将与牛一样吃草。

 

The baby shall play by the cobra's den, and the child lay his hand on the adder's lair.

吃奶的婴儿将游戏于蝮蛇的洞口；断奶的幼童将伸手探入毒蛇的窝穴。

 

There shall be no harm or ruin on all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be filled with knowledge of the LORD, as water covers the sea.

在我的整个圣山上，再没有谁作恶，也没有谁害人，因为大地充满了对上主的认识，有如海洋满溢海水。

 

On that day, the root of Jesse, set up as a signal for the nations, the Gentiles shall seek out, for his dwelling shall be glorious.

那一日，叶瑟的根，将成为万民的旗帜；列邦必将寻求他；他驻节之地，将是辉煌的。

O God, with your judgment endow the king, and with your justice, the king's son; he shall govern your people with justice and your afflicted ones with judgment.

领：天主，求你给君王传授你的权柄；求你给太子传授你的公正。使他照正义统治你的百姓；使他按公道管理你的平民。

 

R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

 

Justice shall flower in his days, and profound peace, till the moon be no more. May he rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

领：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安，直至月亮失明。他将统治大地，从这海到那海，由大河的流域，至地极的边界。

 

R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

 

For he shall rescue the poor when he cries out, and the afflicted when he has no one to help him. He shall have pity for the lowly and the poor; the lives of the poor he shall save.

领：他必拯救哀号的贫民；他必扶持无援的穷人。他将怜恤不幸和贫乏的群众，并要救护穷苦贫病者的生命。

 

R. Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

 

May his name be blessed forever; as long as the sun his name shall remain. In him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed; all the nations shall proclaim his happiness.

领：他的名号常存，永受赞扬；他的名号常留，与日争光。万邦要因他而得福；万民要称颂他。

【答】：在他的岁月中，正义必要兴盛，到处国泰民安。

 

Second Reading : ROM 15:4-9

读经二（基督拯救了众人。）

恭读圣保禄宗徒致罗马人书　15:4-9

 

Brothers and sisters: Whatever was written previously was written for our instruction, that by endurance and by the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

弟兄姊妹们：其实，凡经上所写的，都是为教训我们而写的，为叫我们因经典所教训的忍耐和安慰，而获得希望。

 

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

愿赐忍耐和安慰的天主，赏赐你们仿效耶稣基督的榜样，彼此同心合意，一心一口，光荣我们的主耶稣基督的天主和父。

 

Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God.

为此，你们要为光荣天主，而彼此接纳，犹如基督也接纳了你们一样。

 

For I say that Christ became a minister of the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, to confirm the promises to the patriarchs, but so that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy.

我要说：基督为了彰显天主的信实，成了“割损”的仆役，为实践那向先祖们所作的恩许，也使外邦人因天主的怜悯，而光荣天主，

 

As it is written: Therefore, I will praise you among the Gentiles and sing praises to your name.

正如所记载的：“为此，我要在异民中称谢你，歌颂你的圣名。”

Gospel MT 3:1-12

福音（你们悔改吧！因为天国临近了。）

恭读圣玛窦福音　3:1-12

 

John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"

那时候，洗者若翰在犹太旷野出现，宣讲说：“你们悔改吧！因为天国临近了。”

 

It was of him that the prophet Isaiah had spoken when he said: A voice of one crying out in the desert, Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.

这人就是那藉依撒意亚先知所预言的：在旷野里有呼号者的声音：你们该当预备上主的道路，修直他的途径。

 

John wore clothing made of camel's hair and had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

这若翰穿着骆驼毛做的衣服，腰间束着皮带，他的食物是蝗虫和野蜜。

 

At that time Jerusalem, all Judea, and the whole region around the Jordan were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins.

那时，耶路撒冷、全犹太，以及全约但河一带的人都出来，到若翰那里，承认自己的罪过，并在约但河受他的洗。

 

When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers!

他见到许多法利塞人和撒杜塞人，来受他的洗，就对他们说：“毒蛇的种类！

 

Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce good fruit as evidence of your repentance.

谁教你们逃避那即将来临的愤怒？那么，就结与悔改相称的果实吧！

 

And do not presume to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you, God can raise up children to Abraham from these stones. Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees.

你们自己不要想：我们有亚巴郎为父。我给你们说：天主能从这些石头，给亚巴郎兴起子孙来。

 

Therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

斧刀已放在树根上，凡不结好果子的树，必被砍倒，投入火中。

 

I am baptizing you with water, for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is mightier than I. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

我固然用水洗你们，为使你们悔改；但在我以后，要来的那一位，比我更强，我连提他的鞋也不配，他要以圣神及火洗你们。

 

His winnowing fan is in his hand. He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire."

他的簸箕已拿在手中，他要扬净自己的禾场，将他的麦粒收入仓内，至于糠秕，却要用不灭的火烧掉。”
